Watonga
Chamber of Commerce is proud to be
partnering with Devon Energy to honor
volunteers in our community. Each month, the Watonga Chamber
of Commerce Board will choose one
individual to be recognized in an ad
provided by Devon Energy in the Watonga
Republican.Recipients of the award will
receive a certificateof appreciation and a $25 Watonga
Gift Certificate , courtesy of Devon
Energy.
The first recipient (April) was Terri
Crawford of the Watonga Library.Terri is not only a top
notch librarian that Watonga is lucky to
have, but is active in the community
through Friends of the Ferguson, HCE,
PEO, and many other organizations. She is always willing to share
her skills and talents with others to
help reach the goals of various civic
needs.
The recipient for May is Jeff Fritz.Jeff is the organizer of the
Roman Nose Hills Trail Ride, a twice a
year fundraiser for the Watonga Hospital
Foundation. He has worked with the
Trail Ride since 1999 and works hard to
promote it year round. The trail
ride has never shown a negative profit
and, over the years, has netted nearly
$100,000 to benefit Watonga Municipal
Hospital through the Foundation.
The Trail Ride also serves to promote
Watonga and Roman Nose State Park to the
equestrian community throughout the
state. If you know of someone that
deserves to be recognized, please get in
touch with the Chamber office and offer
your nomination.
The Kent Family Magic Circus will return
to Watonga on May18th at 6:00 pm at the Liberty
Theatre. The show they put on at the 2010
Watonga Cheese Festival was fabulous,
and this performance should prove to be
just as great. The Kent Family will perform new
tricks and illusions that will entertain
and fascinate people of all ages.Tickets are $10, general
admission, and can be purchased at
Country Home Antiques or by contacting
Jon Lyle at 580-623-3489.
The next big event for the Chamber is
the Town Wide Garage Sale on Saturday,
June 4th.If you want to have your sale
listed on the flyer, you will need to
register at the Chamber office.Registration is $5 and the City
does not require a permit for that day.We will advertise all over
Northwestern Oklahoma and put flyers at
all the convenience stores in town. That's a pretty big value for $5!
If you are cleaning things out and don't
want to have your own garage sale, there
will once again be a fundraiser garage
sale at the Armory during the Town Wide
garage Sale. This year, Watonga Main Street
will be putting it on and would welcome
any donations you would like to make.To arrange to drop off your
contributions, contact Beth at the Main
Street office, 623-2200.
